Brand new InDesign install crashing upon launch - unusable

Hi,

 

i got back into adobe CC by taking a trial as I urgently need InDesign to modify a resume I made a while ago.

 

i downloaded InDesign from the CC utility, and it crashes at every launch... I can see the welcome page, then immediately crashes with no indication of what went wrong.

 

Illustrator works perfectly for instance

 

 already tried uninstalling/reinstalling, deleting folders in AppData etc, is there any solution as I need it quite urgently ?

 

my config is :

Intel Core i9 10850k

32 Gb DDR4

RTX 3070 

NVME storage 

Windows 11

Some suggestions:

  • Trash preferences
  • Create a new user account and try launching there.
  • Uninstall, run the cleaner tool and then reinstall.

In the meantime it seems to work as intended after a few reboots... No idea of what was causing this but i guess it can be considered as solved !

Did you try to open a document when you first launched InDesign?

If yes and the crash occured by trying this, you should trash all cache files that are in your user folder at:

User > Username > AppData > Local > Adobe > InDesign > Version 17.0

 

And also a file in the folder of your document you wanted to open that begins with a tilde character and ends with .idlk, if this is still there and InDesign does not run.
