Hi all,
Please find my attached video made with the latest version of InDesign CC available through the Creative Cloud app:
Indesign bug first character replace - YouTube
This behavior seems minute, but is in fact very annoying for productivity. As text-writer, I often select text to then replace it with something else.
Now, the first character is never accepted and only 'clears the text', and the secondary typed character is the first character to be accepted.
So "hello" becomes "ello".
Interestingly enough, if the first entered key is something other than a character, like SHIFT on the keyboard, and then you type "hello", it does work...
I'm not sure whether this is a bug, whether it is by design, or otherwise can be changed somewhere in the app preferences?
Could anyone otherwise perhaps try to reproduce the issue?
What I have tried:
Happy to hear!

Apologies for any redundancy. English is not my native language. I have searched the forums for queries like "Character ignored" or "Replace selected text" but could not find any hits. I see I should have used a query more in the range of 'first character skipped'.
You may close the topic.

Hi Brounzer ,
I still think it's a very bad idea releasing bug fixes that never make it as dot updates offered by the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.
At least one of the messages issued by CC Desktop App should mention that there is a fix for the Windows version of InDesign CC 2018.1.
Regards,
Uwe
