Can I create "fx" shortcuts for frequently-used effects?

I use certain "FX" features on callouts regularly (subtle drop shadows, small chiseled bevels, etc). I would like to create an action or shortcut to apply one of these to a text box when needed. How can I do this?  The values are always the same for each effect, and I don't mind changing them individually if I need more or less effect, but I'd rather not have to repeat the process for every instance; there are about 200 of these that need to be done.

p.s. As someone who thinks in terms of graphics and the printed word, creating a script is a concept I find utterly terrifying.

This is exactly what object styles are for.

Took some fiddling, but yes that works great. I'd never really played with that feature before and it's just what was needed. Thanks!
