Can I stop InDesign from adding " Folder" to my packaged folder names?

I package every job I do in InDesign. Every time I do, InDesign adds a space followed by the word Folder to the name of the packaged folder in my job. I have to delete it EVERY time. Is there a script or a way to stop InDesign from adding this to the final packaged folder name?

It would have to be done with a script. There are no built-in controls for changing that feature.

I agree with Steve. In fact, a script can be downloaded from Keith Gilbert's website (look for the word PACKAGE) - http://www.gilbertconsulting.com/resources-scripts.html - make your own folder and it packages without making a folder of its own

Unfortunately, this is not what she was asking. I have the same issue as Mary. When I package InDesign creates the word "Folder" in the title of the folder it's is creating. I have to delete that word from the folder name every time. It's pretty annoying when you are packaging dozens of files. Is there a script that removes the word "Folder" from the title when you package? In addition, that script on Keith's website doesn't even do the same thing that you said it would.

I agree that it can be an annoyance, and I'd like to see it changed, or some other level of user control added to the default behavior. But I do a lot of packaging too and it really only takes a couple seconds to Tab to the folder name field, tap End, then type Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow, Backspace, Backspace, Enter.

Entering a feature request is always a good idea, but I wouldn't expect one like this to get super high priority treatment by the developers.

Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear about your experience. In addition to Steve's correct response, I'd request sharing a feature request in this regard on Adobe InDesign UserVoice(https://indesign.uservoice.com/). This forum is monitored by product team and they might look into it in future releases.

Regards,

Ashutosh
