After Windows and InDesign updates, we can't open InDesign files created on our primary workstation on other computers on the network.  We can open other file types accross the network with no problem, but the secondary computer can't even see the InDesign file, let alone open it.  If we put the file on a flash drive, and move it to the secondary computer, we can open it.  What the heck is going on?  Yes, all computers involved have the same version of InDesign.  HELP!

Hi there,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Though we have limited support on Network and VM related issues( https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html ) but from personal experience I would suggest you few things which you must check:

  • Check if this is happening with specific user account only or with multiple users.
  • Check if there is any antivirus or if there is any end point security or if there is any restriction imposed by your IT Team. Due to this sometimes server does not allow application to save but you are able to save outside the application.
  • This generally happens when network policies or Operating System is updated, check with your IT team for the same.
  • You may also try reinstalling Network Drive on the machine and see if that helps.

Regards,

Srishti
