For the last 6 months or so I've been unable to open the recently edited docs on my InDesign homescreen. They have not been moved, and are not open in another application. I have tried clearing my recent flies cache by setting Preferences --> File Handling --> Saving Recent InDesign Files to 0, and restarting. Then changing the number again and restarting.
I continue to get the error "Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or it is open in another application."
Very annoying. Any tips? Thanks. I'm running 15.0.1.

Hi Shannon:
Do they open with File > Open? If you can open a file, save it, see it in the recent files list but not be able to reopen it, I would try rebuilding cache/preferences.

Thanks Barb. I uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign 2020. I renamed the cache and preferences and restarted. But still experiencing the same problem. I saved the file to my desktop, and I can launch the file on desktop from recent items. But I continue to get the same error when I attempt to open the files residing in the main folder within Documents folder.

Hi Shannon:
What operating system? I think Windows has a newish way of working with permissions that you may have to overcome—where you need to take ownership of a folder. That's what this sounds like.

Sorry, should have included that detail. I'm running OS Catalina 10.15.2. This was a problem before updating to Catalina, however.

Same problem here with Ventura.
When I repeadly click on the file eventually it opens but sometimes after 7 or 8 clicks.
