I have a document (20 pgs) that is one threaded piece of text. I’ve separated the thread into sections using Space Before and made the first line of each new section small caps. How would I create a nested style for a small caps command to apply at the beginning of each different, uneven section within the paragraph style? Or is that even possible?

A nested style will be applied consistently. If defined to apply at beginning of paragraph, then that's where it is applied, regardless of uneven section. Perhaps a GREP style could be used. Can you share an example or screenshot?

Sure. Here's what we're looking at. Those small cap lines are the ones I'm trying to simplify with a style.

Use a non-joiner to delimit the text as, e.g., a grep style: ^.+?~j

Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
