You really should be Placing (importing) your file.

But your issue might be System-level, as it's your OS that's handling the copy and pasting bewteen applications.

As far as InDesign: Preferences for Clipboard Handling : "When Pasting Text...." shuold be set for "All information..."

Tested: This works for me with a copy/paste from Word.

Does the font you're using in InDesign have an Italics version?

The latest is 17.3 and best practice is to PLACE the text, not paste it.

Hi @Mani250679161chf ,

also look into this article by Marc Autret and try his script:

RichPaste | Copy and Paste with Minimal Formatting [UPDATE]
Marc Autret, April 06, 2016
https://www.indiscripts.com/post/2015/10/richpaste-copy-and-paste-with-minimal-formatting

Quoting Marc: "When it comes to pasting text from another document or application, InDesign provides two options, either keeping the original text attributes, fonts, styles (the full 'Paste' feature), or removing all attributes ('Paste without formatting'.) We also have tools and preferences in the field of style mapping, but on many occasions these features do not fit the need of dealing quickly with basic formatting problems. Here RichPaste comes to the rescue…"
