Cannot highlight text in my InDesign document past page 80

I have an 80-page document that I have been working on for the past couple of months. This week I was instructed to add a new section. I added the new pages; then I added the text. Now that I need to format and edit my content, highlighting text does not show on screen. Oddly, this is only the case past page 80. It works fine on all other pages. I can click and drag or double-click to highlight, and it shows up just fine.

I am working on a Windows 11 system, and I have the most recent updates for InDesign.

Can you post a screenshot?

On what layer is your new text? Maybe layer is locked?

There is not much to show. The text block is simply on the base layer. I have no other layers added yet.

It is not locked. I can add a text block to it, but the highlighting function does not work. I've never encountered this

It might be nothing to you - but it might be something significant.

And which text is unselectable?

Just in case - do you do Save As with a new name - from time to time? Or are you constantly working on the same document - and only do Save?

None of the text is selectable.  My previous versions do not have this many pages.  I just discovered that if I move this page elsewhere within the document, it IS editable. However, anything past page 80 is not. Really weird.

Maybe your document got corrupted?

Try IDMLing - export as IDML, open, save with a new name - do not overwrite your original file.

You are welcome.

When you do Save only - InDesign is doing a "quick save" - adds Undo History, that makes file bigger and bigger.

At some point, this can lead to file corruption - so it's a good practice, to save file you are working on with a new name.

Saving with a new name removes all the overhead.
