CC Library locks up when changing InDesign documents.

Community Beginner ,

My CC Library locks up and becomes unusable without fully relaunching InDesign when I close one file and open the next. I have tried clearing the cache, deleting and recreating the library, and even checked the host files. I am also running a fully up to date InDesign on a Mac using Sequoia. Is anyone else having this issue or does anyone have a solution? I work on upwards of 50 InDesign documents a day and it is a real time suck to  have to relaunch the software with each file.  This issue has also slowly gotten worse because it used to only lock up once a day.

Hello @Whispering_mind5E10,

I appreciate you reaching out, and I apologize for the delay this is causing. It would be very helpful if you could specify the exact versions of InDesign and macOS Sequoia that you are currently using.

In the meantime, please attempt to sign out and then sign back into the Creative Cloud Desktop app once, and check if the Libraries panel becomes responsive afterward.

If the problem persists, I would like you to perform a quick refresh of the Creative Cloud services, as the Libraries rely on them. Please close all Adobe applications, then uninstall and reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop app using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, and reinstall from the link below to ensure a clean setup:

Cleaner Tool: https://adobe.ly/4mkYJCc
Reinstall CC Desktop: https://adobe.ly/43fQrCS

After reinstalling, reopen InDesign and try switching documents again.

If the issue still occurs, please attempt to run InDesign in Safe Mode based on your system and let me know if the Libraries panel continues to freeze there as well. This will help us determine if any background processes or third-party extensions might be causing the interference.

macOS: https://adobe.ly/48C105A

Please keep me updated with your findings. I look forward to your response.

Abhishek

This is a brand new Mac Studio running Sequoia 15.7.2 and the latest InDesign. Creative Cloud was freshly installed less than 2 weeks ago and the issue was present before the computer upgrade. The only thing tht I haven't tried is safe mode.

Hi @Whispering_mind5E10,

Just checking back in. Were you able to try launching InDesign in Safe Mode and switching between documents to see if the Libraries panel still freezes?

If the issue continues even in Safe Mode, could you please share a short screen recording showing your workflow till the freeze happens so that I can take it further with the team.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

This EXACT same thing is happening to me! It has been for about 6 months and I keep waiting for an update to fix it. I have the latest update of CC, and my Mac is a Sequoia using 15.7.2. CC Libraries freeze when I switch documents. I have to reboot Illustrator, PhotoShop, or InDesign to access other Libraries.

Hello @BawabeGraphics,

I'm sorry to hear you're having similar trouble with InDesign. Would you mind trying the following steps and checking if it helps:

  • Close all Adobe applications
  • Remove the Creative Cloud Desktop application, CCLibrary, and CoreSync using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (https://adobe.ly/4916Iyf)
  • Reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application (https://adobe.ly/48PLh4o)
  • Relaunch InDesign

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Anubhav
