We have a 75 page document with listings of Charities. Each Charities belongs to a region. Right now the main listings in the document are in alphabetical order by Charity, which is what we want. But the Index needs to be by the Region then by charity within that region in alphabetical order.
Example:
A Division/Region
ABC Company.................4
DEF Company.................4
GHI Company.................5
B Division/Region
ABD Company...............4
ABE Company...............4
How do we accomplish this without having to add each Charity to the index one at a time. There are 100s.

Thank you for this but I'm not very versed in all the terminology or how to write a script. I will have to research some more, I guess

Hi @Pre-Press #2245384020mx4, sometimes, if you attach two demo indesign documents (.indd) that show a page or two of your document (and index, if necessary) then someone can write a script to solve it. One doc should show your document as it is, and the other should show how you want it to be (ie. after running a hypothetical script). Without doing exactly that, there are simply too many questions for anyone to ask them all, to understand what you need to a sufficient level of specificity.
