Corrupt image in indesign file causing crash when deleting it

New Here ,

Using Adobe InDesign 18.2.1 and Photoshop 24.7.0 on a mac.

I created a template from an older document and am now unable to delete a linked image (jpg).

It causes InDesign to crash every single time

I've tried unlinking it; changing the image name; resaving the image; creating a link to a different image; deleting the image box; deleting the image inside the image box.; deleting the page it is on. Everything I can think of, I have tried.

The document is 200+ pages and I would like to use it as a template for next year however I don't want to continue the replication of this corrupt image.

Any ideas of what I can do?

Try exporting to .idml, open that and save as a new .indd (don't overwrite the original).
