I can reproduce it 100% of the times and have reported it through the Crash Reporter.

How to reproduce:

Select a Text Frame

Edit > Edit in Story Editor

Scroll in the story (I am doing it via the two finger gesture of the Apple Magic Trackpad 2)

InDesign crashes

Sometimes story text frames can be corrupt in an InDesign document. Have you experimented with other stories in other documents?

I am glad this is not widespread.

This is happening using the "InDesign essential training 2021" documents from the LinkedIn Learning course by David Blatner, lesson 4 on threading text frames.

What can one do when story text frames become corrupt? Surely one cannot trash a document because of that.

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

The other option is to create a new document with the same size page and same margins etc.

Then you can move your pages to the new document
