Ciao
When I create cross references within a text in "indd" files. When I export the file in "Idml" files to be translated, I lose the cross references or they change. How can I do to avoid this?
Thank you

Hi Janette,
could you check if you will also lose the cross references when you export to IDML and immediately open the IDML file as document? With the same version of InDesign that exported the IDML. Just to rule out a bug or a shortcoming with the IDML roundtrip workflow itself.
Thanks,

Hi Janette,
well, I have no answer. The issue is obviously with the translation software or the process there.
Did you contact them? What are they saying?

Hi default9t5mcb8hmaqn,
what does "but in idml they turn yellow" mean?
Can you show a screenshot?
What is the version of InDesign you created the IDML?
What is the version you opened the IDML?
So: Why do you use IDML at all?

Hi Janette,
is the screenshot with the errors showing the document after it was translated?
Or did you just export to IDML and open the IDML in your InDesign?
Well, if the cross-references target pages are in different InDesign documents the problem is logical. At least that's my assumption. The original document does not exist anymore after an IDML roundtrip.
So the original targets are not valid anymore.
Why? InDesign is building a fresh new document out of an IDML file. The IDML file provides the building plan in several XML files contained by a zip-file like structure. Objects will get new ids. Original objects, the pages for example, cannot be identified anymore.
