Cursor stutters and disappears over canvas

Hi All,

Indesign has suddenly started behaving erratically. When I move the cursor onto the canvas, with any tool, it gets stuck at the very edge of the canvas. If I am in selection tool then a little black square appears to the bottom right of the black arrow cursor - but it is stuck to the edge of the canvas. I can see in the rulers that the cursor, in theory, is moving and when I move across images the crosshairs kind of overlay appears on the centre of the image (see image below).

I have tried reinstalling Indesign and have tried three different keyboards but nothing helps.

It is only in Indesign that I am seeing this kind of behaviour and even then only when the cursor is on the canvas.

The only way I could get this back to normal was to reinstall OSX - but all good now and behaving properly.
