InDesign has always had a fraught relationship with metadata, whether for the active document or for its linked documents. File Info can help, but it can be challenging to inspect or modify properties from namespaces outside of what FileInfo already knows. What if there was a better way?
Enter the free Custom Metadata Panel, which is like nitro fuel for metadata. It is available for Bridge, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop (Intel or Rosetta2), and now... InDesign.
The Custom Metadata Panel provides Enterprises and individuals with a way to focus their attention on critical metadata in one panel. The panel is completely customizable and helps users tune their metadata view for maximum accuracy and efficiency. With many form field types and available metadata presets, it expands the metadata capabilities of Creative Cloud Desktop applications without using XML or special coding.
It includes tabs for many common metadata schemas, such as IPTC, PLUS, Astronomy Visualization Metadata Standard, and more. Tabs are customizable and, with so many features, it expands the metadata capabilities of your Creative Cloud applications without using XML or special coding.
Available form fields include:
Other features include a read-only entries, section dividers, a built-in form editor, form definition file import and export, and metadata value preset import and export. While we currently don't support editing metadata for linked Cloud Docs or Library items, we are working on ways to better manage metadata for those. Stay tuned for new releases!
