Hello all,
I am using a custom placeholder text file which I want to use instead of Lorem Ipsum. I have couple of paragraphs on it and I have pasted the file in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2023
The file is in plain text format and I have tried all the possible options of UTF-8, UTF-16 LE, UTF-16 BE and other options available in Notepad for saving it. For some reason only few lines are appearing from the file and that same line is getting repeated.
I have attached a screenshot and also the placeholder text file.
Any suggestion would be very helpful.
Thanks
That is the only method of using custom placeholder text that I have ever heard that would work in InDesign.
Perhaps someone can suggest a trick using scripting (but I'm not a scripter).

Here's a video which shows you how to use custom placeholder text in InDesign:

@Steve Werner Thanks for the reply. I have already tried this method. As I said, it only takes first few words of the placeholder text and then repeat the same words again and again. I have attached a screenshot for that.
Any other ideas would be very helpful.
Thanks

Interesting. There's no file in the app structure that could be replaced with different text? It must live somewhere, right?
My minor puzzle is how ID knows how to hyphenate all the nonsense words... and no, there's no discretionary hyphens in the text that I can find.

Yes, I also have a similar issue where the placeholder text does not recognise paragraph breaks. Instead replaces them with a p or a \. Depending on the UTF formatting I tried. In Affinity Publisher there is an option in the app preferences / settings to change the placeholder text. So much easier and more civilised than the Adobe approach.
