data Merge/variables, indesign & illustrator

Hi,

I just wonder why I have to use a UTF-8 text file in illustrator and a Window 1252 text file in indesign, I create multiple graphics using both programs and with the same variables.
Having to keep track that I save the file in the correct format is a source of headache and frustration.

Is this going to get fixed so that I can use UTF-8 in both programs?

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.
