I have always used Typical Display, since years. It was always good enough quality (for both bitmap and vector) that it looked good on the screen, and didn't slow down the program. However I've noticed since a few months (specifically after an update) that Typical Display is very pixelated and it's rather annoying. I know 100% that I didn't use High Quality Display previously (except when I specifically had to), so I'm assuming that something has changed. And would really prefer to change it back.
What is really interesting is if I open a file from a year ago with an image in it, the image looks very good quality (not high, but good). If I place the same image anew into the file, it will be much(!) more pixelated. And yet both images are set to Typical Display. Side by side. This seems to me, to say that internally the Display Performance settings are saved with the images which have been placed in InDesign, and anytime now that an image is placed anew into InDesign, the display settings are lower quality than they used to be.
Has anyone else noticed this? Are there any other controls for the Display Performance which could be adjusted (other that simply the 3: Fast, Typical, High Quality)?
