Hello @lbsurfergirl13,

I'm sorry to hear the suggestions did not help. Could you check if there are any pending macOS updates (https://adobe.ly/45PG0bY) and install them to see if they help? Also, try running InDesign under a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Did the JPEGS originate from Photoshop? See if PSD format has the same problem.

Are the JPGs 72 dpi or 300? Sometimes images get wonky (and files bloat) when the res is 72 dpi (even if it's a gigantic file).

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

I suspect there’s some mild corruption in the images, or they were saved with a JPEG encoding that InDesign doesn’t fully support.

Try opening one of the JPGs and simply resaving it. See if it still glitches afterward — it’s a good way to test whether the file itself is the issue.

If the problem disappears, it likely means the images in your library are the culprit. I’d recommend resaving them in another format, as others have already suggested.

Over the years, I’ve seen this sort of image corruption crop up in InDesign, and almost every time it’s been a JPEG edited with some third-party software. Those tools can encode JPEGs in a way that InDesign doesn’t handle properly.

It’s possible the file came from a photographer, a mobile device, or a website that adds extra encoding layers. If you’re linking directly from a library server, there could even be hidden data in the file from the server itself (though that part is hard to pin down).

Hi @Eugene Tyson , Yes, that’s why I suggested trying a save as PSD to @lbsurfergirl13 . When placing in InDesign PSD has a number of advantages over other image formats.

Hi @lbsurfergirl13,

I hope the suggestions shared by experts helped, especially trying to export as IDML and checking with PSD files. If not, could you please confirm if you're using an external monitor and if the glitch only happens there? Also, let me know if the issue stays after rebuilding the file or if it appears again when reopening.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek

Hello, I appreciate the suggestions but I still havent figured out my issue. I tried exporting as IDML and opening it back up in indesign, didn't help. I am using a macbook pro, no external monoter. I've never had this issue before. I noticed that if I create the file and link the images and stuff its fine but if my team creates or makes it It glitches out. initially when opening I'm abel to see them but if I move withing the file or zoom in or out it glitches.

Hello @lbsurfergirl13,

I'm sorry to hear the suggestions did not help. To investigate this better, could you try running InDesign under a different administrator account (macOS) and checking if it works better there?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, yes I can try that. My manager also suggested that since our company mainly uses PC and I use my Mac it might be that me reading the saved file from a PC isnt working properly..

Well that's 100% not it - the files are completely cross-platform compatible.
