I am facing a problem with the font Mangal (a Unicode font). Every time I paste it from an aword document, it shows up as a box (sample attached).

Kindly help me to solve the issue.

Hi @Agradeep5E35 ,

did you install the font in your system?
Is InDesign able to see it? What happens if you type in InDesign using the font?

If that is working place the Word file. File > Place… Do not copy/paste.

Yes, two things. First, a font has to be installed and available to InDesign before it can be used. Cut and paste does not carry fonts with it, only the specific glyph mapping. If the font you paste into does not have glyphs for those codes, you'll get the box.

A more subtle version of this is when a font is changed, from one with a wide or complete glyph set to one with fewer glyphs. Some of the characters, those outside the basic font, will turn to placeholder boxes.

Either could be at play in your situation, but mostly, you have to have the font installed and activated and available to InDesign for it to display.
