App won't let me save any docs. Even if I create a new document.

Opening a previous file as 'read only', or as corrupt.

When trying to save I get message:

"Cannot save the document. It may be opened by another applications. Close applications and try again. You may also use Save As to save it to a new document"

Uninstalling and re-installing does not solve the issue.

I can't work on InDesign at all - and losing money

Hi TheRazKeren,

We are sorry to hear you have trouble saving/creating a new document. We would request you to please share a few more details to investigate the issue further.-

  • Would you mind sharing the details of the operating system and the version of InDesign installed on your machine?
  • Are you saving these InDesign files to a cloud-based location or opening them from there on multiple computers?
  • Please try to save the file with a different name on your network folder.
  • Is it happening with all files or with a specific file?
  • Please try saving the file to your desktop (locally) and let us know if that works.

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Thanks Harshika for the reply,

  • The operating system on my machine is MacOS Monterey, and I am using the latest InDesign version 17.2.
  • I am saving the files on my computer, not cloud based location.
  • I have tried to save the file with a different name but get the same result.
  • It’s the same issue with other files as well.

However - the files I work with are on an external hard drive. When I save it to the desktop, there is no issue!

I use an external drive but never had a problem before...

Any advise?
