Error occured

Community Beginner ,

I keep having this message pop up when using InDesign. Sometimes even my whole laptop will freeze and shut down afterwards. Not sure how to solve this repeated message/shut down.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The screenshoot does not help as it is only a form to submit the answers to the questions.

  1. What OS do you use?
  2. What are you doing before this happens?
  3. Is there a reason why you have not updated to CC 2023?
  4. Does it happen to other applications too?
  5. You talk about your computer is freezing. What else is running, when it happens?

Is it happening with all files, or just one? If just one, see if you can export it to .idml, then open that and save as .indd with a new name.

If it crashes before you can export, try the script at Blind open and IDML-export

  • Did you install any software on your computer lately? If yes, then you could test by unistalling them
  • Did you install any third party plugins, script, extension for InDesign? If so, try by removing them

You could boot your computer in safe mode then launching only InDesign and see if it crashes or not. If it does not then it migh mean some other application is the cuplrit and is interfering with InDesign working properly.
