Exporting QR codes from Indesign

Is it possible to export a QR code alone from Indesign? It's not available in the Links folder when I package my file, so I was wondering if this is possible.

Export, no. But you can copy and paste into any other app, including Photoshop, to save it for other use.

If you want QR codes for a variety of uses, it may be better to use any of the many apps or web services to create them in a universal format, then import them to ID. ID's feature is serviceable but not a great general solution — this question/need being an example. 🙂

Make a page in the size of the QR Code, export the INDD as PDF/X-4, place it wherever you want to use the QR code.

Yes. You can "export selection."

Yes, you can export SELECTION to a bitmap file type - JPEG, PNG, etc.

As PDF & EPS - you can only export whole pages.

But there is a workaround - copy selection to a new page, resize page to fit your selection - then export as PDF / EPS.

Oh, way down in the last export dialog, right. Not a feature I use much.

I'd be concerned about resolution and sharpness, but it's an option.

Copy and paste it into Illustrator. It retains the vector information.

Yes, it does, which is a useful option. Note, though, that it imports it as 'leventy-billion individual rectangles; be sure to group or otherwise consolidate it immediately after pasting.
