Eyedropping tool not working for type styles Indesign

Hello, 

The eye dropper tools isnt copying the type style and either converts the text to outline or adds a stroke. 

Is there a setting I can adjust or is it a glitch or something?

It could be that your eyedropper is sampling something that is above the text in layering order. 

Another possibility: If the text you are sampling from has a paragraph style applied that has been overridden, you may be getting the original styling with overrides removed. (This will happen if you have the cursor in the destination paragraph, but not if you have the destination text highlighted)

That was the issue, I had added a boarder around the document it was copying the style from. Thanks for the quick reply!
