Fit frame to content on Mac

New Here ,

Not really an issue but I'm just curious – on a Mac when using Cmd+alt+c to fit frame to content in a text box, it usually only adjusts the height of the box to fit the text, but very occasionally it will change the width of the box as well to fit to the longest line of text – anyone know why this happens?

Hi @Jon1001,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please check this article on text frame options and review the Auto-Size tab settings in your text frame: Text frame fitting options in InDesign? These settings can influence how the Fit Frame to Content command behaves.

Let me know if that helps.

Abhishek

Generally, If you have only one line of text in a box, it will shrink the frame to the height AND width of the text. If you have more than one line of text in the paragraph (even a paragraph return), it shrinks only to the height.

If you want to purposelly fit the frame to the width, you can set autosizing.
