Font is unexpectedly substituted in Indesign when I copy from original file to a new file

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

When I have copied a page from my client's indesign file to a new Indesign file, the True Type Collection font (PT Sans Bold) is unexpectedly being changed to another font (Times Bold)  (see attached images).  What is strange is the Times Bold font is not even in the Document Fonts folder.  Has anyone experienced this before or knows what the problem is?

I am using Indesign 19.1  on a MacIntosh (Ventura 13.6.3)

You have "Times" in "[No Paragraph Style]" - which is unavailable to edit from the UI:

Same is after exporting your INDD file as IDML:

And because you have almost everything with overrides - "+" next to the ParaStyle(s) names - after copy&paste it reverts to your overrides - even when in my document I have Minion Pro Regular:

What is the name of the ParaStyle applied in the client's document and do you have the same style in your document - before copying?

I do not think this file has a style defined.  Here is a screen cap of the No Paragraph style that is used by the text box.

I noticed when I create a text box and copy the text from the client's file, the font is defined as Times Bold.  I am able to change it manually.  I

Even No Style has a style definition and this can be different.
Never work without styles and neber ise the Baic Paragraph Style. Start with your own paragraph style bases on none. The you can copy and paste without font problems.

Can you share your document?

Without deeper examination we can only guess...

It can be CharStyle, local override, ObjectStyle, your default text prooperties are set to Times, etc.

Here is a base version of the Indesign file.  For sake of client confidentiality, I have stripped out any identifying art/text from the original file.

Thanks, this explains why this keeps reverting to the Times font.

Do you recommend modifying the style so that it does not override?

There is no easy way to edit "[No Paragraph Style]".

First, you should create some "base" ParaStyle and use it as a root ParaStyle.

Then, you should try to avoid local overrides - either by creating and use CharStyles - or create and use additional ParaStyles.

Are either of these files using fonts that are in a document fonts folder?

The only font in the documents folder is the PTSans TTC font.

I am not sure where the Times font is coming from.  Is it because the client's original source document started off with the Times font?
