I want to speed up my footnoting (I have too many), and I would like to have the footnote type used. It is not a basic paragraph right now.

  1. Define a paragraph style for the footnote text.
  2. Define a character style for the footnote numbers in the text.
  3. In Type > Footnote options select both.

If you have created a character style with text shifting, you can use character shifting as normal. It is better to do it via character styles.
