I just installed version 19.2 of Indesign on my Nov. 2023 MacBook Pro M3 Max, running Sonoma 14.3.1 and I am having the following issues:
I can not change fonts via the drop-down menu
I can not change colors of any object (fill or stroke) via the drop-down menu
I can not alter a selection of objects using the modifier keys (option-shift, shift, etc.)
I can not click on a single object within a selected group to designate it as a key object.
Any time I click on an object to select it, it moves 1 or 2 pixels (up and to the left).
This is a fresh install on a relatively new laptop. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Indesign a few times, as well as restarting my machine between installs.
Hello,
Initially, my company IT was just as stumped as I was trying to trouble shoot this problem, which is why I reached out here to see if anyone else had some insight as to what might be going on. Upon deeper investigation, the company IT determined that is was a conflict with Digital Guardian DLP. They pushed an update to my machine, and the issue seems to be resolved.

Those are usual signs of corrupt preferences which won't get fixed with a reinstall. Try resetting them.
If that doesn't work toggle GPU Performance off or on depending upon its current setting (assuming it's available; if it's not just ignore this).

Are you using Magnet? For most users who experienced this particular issue, Magnet was the culprit.

No, I am not using Magnet. I also trashed preference files and turned off GPU preview, still having the same issues.

Are you using a single monitor? An external with a laptop? How about UI Scaling?

I have an external viewsonic 27" in addition to the built-in display of my laptop. UI scaling is set to small. I tested changing it to other sizes and turning scale cursor proportionately off, but that did not help.

Did this happen after "waking" the laptop? What if you re-boot and try? What if you disconnect the external monitor?

It happened immediately on the first launch after I installed the software, it has never NOT happened. I have rebooted many times, with and without my external monitor connected, using either my mouse or the built-in trackpad. I've created new files, I've opened existing files, all the same result.

Try to create a new user account and run InDesign there. Will it make a difference?
