Give a button a color when you click it (and stay that color)

I know (or think haha) I'm doing it the right way, but I still can't. I have a number range from 1 to 10. The reader has to rate his/her day. The numbers are white. When they click on it, it should turn black. On the rollover, it turns black. When you click on it, it turns black. But then it just turns white again. I want the number to stay black. I attached a part of the page. I made a button, just of nr 1. I tested it in Adobe Acrobat PRO and it just doesn't work.

Thank you so much for the support.

And it never will that way. You're going to have to use show / hide buttons where when you click on a button it hides itself and displays another. It's going to be a convoluted mess that may or may not work in Acrobat/Reader and will likely fail in most other PDF readers.

My advice is to skip it especially for PDF where there is no way to force the user to view it in Acrobat or Reader.
