Hi everyone,
Apologies if this question has been answered somewhere else, but I've been searching and can't find any info ...
I using a template that someone else created which consists of 2 layers. It's a calendar with a photo (layer 1) and a punchhole at the top of the page (layer 2).
I just want to move the hole down a bit.
But whenever I try to select the punchhole, it just selects the other layer.
I've tried selected the print layer from the Layers tab first, but as soon as I click on the page, it instantly switches to the other layer. I've tried holding down ctrl, shift, cmd, option, etc. No luck, I can't figure out how to select the punchhole to edit it!!!
Can anyone help??
I have attached screenshot of it, if that helps.
Thanks in advance!
Bex

Is this Adobe Illustrator you're referring too?

Are you sure the punchhole is on Layer 2? It's not clear from the screenshot. The frame around the holes should be red, the same color assigned to Layer 2. Perhaps try locking Layer 1, using the Layers panel.
If it's easy to post a sample page, please do so and I'm sure we can get it figured out.

Hi Diane, I'm sorry, I never saw your reply to my comment! I can't remember what solution I ended up finding. I think I just deleted the second layer and added a red dot on the first layer. Thanks for your help though.

Be interesting to know how to fix it though.
You can unlock and lock the layers - it could have been locked - or you could have locked the other layer to enable you to select it.
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/indesign/using/layers.html
You can also drill down into the layers and select individual elements
And/or it could have been on a Parent Page
Difficult to know.
Deleting the layer and adding it again is a solution of sorts.
