When I am editing text, the text in the fram suddenly disappers... and if I use just move the text frame back and forth it comes back again ...But this sersiously slows down my work!
Is there a way to fix this?
Hi Ronald,
just today a new version of InDesign 2021 is released. In phases.
You should update to InDesign 16.3 if you are on a Mac with the new M1 chip.
InDesign for Apple silicon:

My Adobe ID is tied to my German address so I still cannot see the new version in the CC Desktop App.
Dependend on your country it should be available soon.

Go to InDesign prefferences to GPU Performance and toggle it off. This worked for me.

Hi Ronald,
what's your version of InDesign on what operating system?
Are there any footnotes in the story that share two text frames?

Hi Uwe,
I have InDesign 17 and this is still happening to me. Is there anything else I should attempt to fix this problem?
As with the original guy (Ronald) asking the question I also have the iMac 24-inch with an Apple M1 chip and 8GB.
Help!

Unfortunatelly no. No any solution yet.
I got an access to prereleased version of Indesign, and it seems something is changed. In this version the text "just" flashing once but not disappearing. So I hope they can fix this annoying issue in the next release.
BTW, annoying issue: the "Reveal in Finder" function is working at your side? Because mine doesn't.

Is this in a particular document, or all files?
With a particular font, or all fonts?
Does it happen even if you start a new document and just add nothing but a single text frame?
Do you keep your Display Performance setting on High Quality?

Thank you for quick reply!
It happens in all documents, and also with various fonts.
I have tried to change the "Display Performance"
The text only disapares in the text box I am working in... and after i have moved the text box, usinge arrow keys on the keyboard, the text appears again.
I have also tried to reinstall inDesign and restart the computer, only having the inDesign program open... and it still happens.
I have the new iMac24, with 8GB RAM

This does fix the text disappearing but creates a new problem being for me. The response time from dragging the curser over the text and it being highlighted is infuriating!!!

This solved the problem 99% of the times... It has happened a few times afterwards... but then I have had several programs open, so it might just be because of that ...but thank you... this solution helped me a lot!

The Adobe Support says: the problem come from the Apple GPU... yeah, sure, but the Cinema4D and Blender running flawlessly... Thanks Adobe

I was having the same problem. When I updated the operating system to 12.3 on my Mac Mini, the problem seems to have resolved itself. Good luck!
