Is there a way to use(access) the hotkeys when you have text selected? Using a hotkey when you have text selected replaces the selected text with the hotkey. Is there a workaroud for this?

I just click the Eyedropper Tool to do this because the shortcut “I” does not work if text is selected. You could define a separate shortcut (for instance CMD+ALT+I) with “Text” as context. Then you will be able to use a shortcut. But I guess clicking the Eyedropper Tool might just be as fast.

You should be able to use keyboard shortcuts that are defined for the Text and Tables area that contain one of the Alt/Opt or Ctrl/Cmd keys.
