Horizontal Line Artifacts in PNG Exports where transparency exists on macOS

InDesign export to PNG has a bug. It renders PNG files with horizontal lines where transparency exists. The checkbox for "transparent background" seems to get rid of these lines but not consistently. Also, it doesn't matter if there's truly a transparent background (empty page) or if there's a solid shape in the background. This is not a new issue but has been going on for months if not years. I only recently discovered it was happening and affecting my teams output.

For what it's worth, I'm on Mac OS. Not sure if this issue exists on Windows, too.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry to hear you're experiencing the issue. I found a similar issue reported here: https://adobe.ly/4mxnfjn. Would you mind trying the suggestion shared in the correct answer of the post and let us know if that helps?

If it doesn't, please share the version of InDesign installed on your machine. We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hello, the glitch pattern appears similar, but the issues are different (mine is during PNG export, the other is in-app file viewing) and the post you shared has no solution. I am using InDesign 20.3.1

I did find that checking the box for "transparent background" gets rid of the lines, but the interface is broken so the box has to be unchecked and re-checked for every export.

Why do you use PNG? I recommend nnot to use PNG in InDesign, as there are other file type with less problems and more possibilities, like PSD, TIFF, PDF/X-4 or AI.
