How do I slow down pan speed?

Hi guys! I'm in zoom mode in indesign and need to pan across a page to create loads of little boxes to make hyperlinks with. But the panning feature seems to have had WAY too much caffeine because it just shoots across the page. i'm moving my fingers as slow as possible (apple m1 pro with trackpad - wacom would be even worse i suspect) and it's so fast it takes me a while to center the page where i want.

Couldn't see anything in the settings.

Any tips/ideas?

I already slowed down my tracking on my mac but that made no difference. i'm not usually someone who needs slowmo but for detailed work i can't be doing with this. Panning in the other adobe programmes is like 1/3 of the speed of this.

cheers in advance
