I'm working on an InDesign file created by someone else. I know they have used effects / transparancy in the document (the Pages panel is showing which pages have transparant objects). But how do I find which objects have had effects / transparancy applied to them (without having to check everything manually)?

Setup a Preflight Profile

https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/preflighting-files-handoff.html

Under Images and Objects - set it to identify transparency

You can then use the Preflight panel to navigate to each item
