Hi,

I'm using Adobe InDesign CS4 and CS5.

I've never written any kind of plugin neither for Adobe InDesign nor on Mac OS, so I need your help to consider what's the best solution for this kind of problem.

I've read about ExtendScript, Linguistic Library Plug-ins SDK.

What should I use?

Thanks for any kind of help.

If you never made a plugin before, the best solution would be to look for a commercial hyphenation library that supports Armenian.

But if you want to have a go at it yourself, don't look in the Scripting forum; writing plugins is so hard, it has a forum of its own: InDesign SDK

Thank you for your response.

I've asked it in SDK forum too, but I didn't get any reply.

There's no commercial soft for this kind of issue for Mac OS, that's why I want to try to write it myself.

hgulyan is correct. Noone currently has Armenian hyphenation support. There's not even a hyphenation dictionary in Armenian for OpenOffice.org.

Armenian is a particularly hard language to write hyphenation rules for, but if you are going to give it a try, it's using the SDK. and not with scripting...

There actually is a sample hyphenation plugin in the SDK. But be forewarned programming in C++ with InDesign is no walk in the park!

Oh, that's great. I know, that's it's not an easy job, that's I was trying to find an easy way with scripting. I'll do my best to write it in C++, anyway I'm not a beginner in programming.

Thanks.

Hello,

I'm sorry for bothering you but I wanted to give it a try. I have been trying to figure out how to implement hyphenation for Armenian in Adobe Indesign on Mac OS for days.

I found your posts and your example PDF in the Adobe Forums and wanted to ask if you got the Armenian hyphenation to work and if you could tell me how you did it or send me the file.

I already tried to install the Hunspell dictionary files for Armenian, but there seems to be no hyphenation dictionary or I haven't been able to find it.

Did you manage to implement Armenian hyphenation?

Could you tell me how?

Thank you very much for you help,

Richard
