How to insert space under picture or text box - a runaround?

Hi there, InDesign noob here. 

I have a five-column story into which I have inserted a three-column picture. I need to place a caption box under the picture. How do I tell InDesign that I want space under the caption box so that it doesn't just sit on top of the body text please?  At the moment when I bring the caption box under the picture, it blocks the first few lines of those columns of text. Thanks very much!

Oh, and part II....what about if I don't want a caption box but I need a space between the bottom of the picture and the rest of the text? Sorry and thanks!

Hi Jannbannana,

use text wrap either on the graphic frame itself or use another empty graphic frame for that (my recommendation) .

For the text frame with the caption look into the text frame options and set them to ignore the text wrap.

You might want to group the image and caption, then apply the wrap to the group.

An inset inside the blue box to keep the text away from the edges (>text frame opions) would be nice too. I usually go for about 2mm.
