How to save ID preferences?
Even resetting is not what I want.
After I reinstalled the ID, everything disappeared.
I set the ID preferences, I want to save it, and I can quickly restore my settings next time.
Hi dublove,
best backup the whole folder:
Version 17.0-J
That would also backup scripts in the User folder of the Scripts panel.
Also your custom workspaces etc.etc.
FWIW: Interesting to see, that the Japanese version has a -J at the end of the name.

Hi dublove,
what's your operating system and InDesign version?
You need to backup the following Version 17.0 folder if you are on Windows and with InDesign 2022:
Users/[UserName]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/Version 17.0
To see the AppData folder you have to check the option to see hidden elements in your file system.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about that. In addition to @Laubender suggestion, if you have a Mac device, you will need to back up the Version 16.0 folder from the following location:
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/
Then, copy the content inside of the Version 16.0 folder and paste it under the Version 17.0 folder at the exact location.
I hope it helps!

Before you follow the advice already given about saving a copy of your "pristine" preference file make sure that you have set all of your preferences with no document open and then quit the program. Quitting at that point "locks in" your new preferences. Making a copy of the preference file—that can be used to replace a future corrupt version—at that point gives you a way to make trashing preferences a painless procedure.

Thank you~Bill Silbert
I don’t know how to back up. Is the "Backup Preferences" you said in this location:
C:\Users\dub\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 17.0-J\zh_CN\
Need a manual backup?
I took a look, and after I closed the InDesign program, these three files changed.
AdobeFntComposite.lst
AppPrefs.xml
InDesign Defaults
