How to speed InDesign with heavy endnote books?

Hi

I'm working ATM on two books, the first is 350 pages with ~1900 endnotes, the second book is 515 pages with ~100 endnotes, and its at least x10 faster to work with even though it has way more images than the first one, is there any way to speed up InDesign with the first file? because working with that file is really painful.

Thanks for your reply.

I think I found the problem, I work with the first file remotely using Chrome Remote Desktop, but when I tried to work with it directly from my PC it was way faster and way more responsive, I'm not sure what causes the low performance when using Chrome Remote Desktop though there's plenty of CPU and RAM available.
