I Have a large resource of Hundreds of magazines which I have created an A-Z Authors directory linking to each article. I have come to update  some of  these  pages  and the edited files  do not work correctly  all links  are exported  with file Path as well a file name   which makes the likes fail  I have created new document with all new links in these export correctly  So it seems only prexisting files with hyperlinks already created   that seem to be the issue   I  have been through one file and tested all the links sucessully opening every connected  indesign files  to the correct pages   it is obviously an export issue  and when I check the links  within  acrobat  The file link is  File:XXX/Pathname/XXX/Pathname/File.pdf when it should be File:XXX/Pathname/File.pdf  Adobe indesign 16.4 the previous version were done in 2019

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. Could you please share a few more details like:

  • Current installed Operating System.
  • Do you recall the exact version of Operating System & InDesign 2019 in which files were created?
  • Is it happening with some documents or all?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Does saving files as IDML, opening it & relinking, and then exporting to PDF help resolve the issue?
  • Does resetting InDesign Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-preferences-support-file-locations.html) help to resolve the issue?
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Regards,

Anshul Saini
