I'm working on a 78 MB Id document that I share with my team. We store the Id file on SharePoint and download it to our desktops when it's necessary to make changes. My officemates use Windows OS 10, I use macOS 12.2.1. I'm using Id v. 17.2.1.
When I open the file on my desktop it tells me I am missing three fonts: all Avenir (TT), i.e., true type. Our organization's brand font is Avenir.oft, which our team has loaded on all our computers. InDesign somehow finds Avenir (TT) and uses it on random bits of text (usually corrections). Once I save/close/reopen the file tells me Avenir TT is now missing and will not replace with Avenir (oft). There seems to be a glitch in the Pre-Flight panel, as the "change to" font gets stuck on Avenir TT (the missing font). If it's missing, how did it get there in the first place??
In fact, neither version of Avenir show up on the options available for substitution in the Pre-Flight details. I've defined all my styles as Avenir.oft in my style palettes. I end up manually finding each violation and correcting it by finding/replacing the font (which I have to type in because the InDesign doesn't list either version of Avenir in the Replace with > Font Family > options). How can I stop this substitution and get rid of Avenir TT?
This is probably happeing because you have Avenir fonts from more than one source (Google Fonts and Adobe fonts, for example) installed, or innstalled in more than one location. It might also be a problem with a font manager, if you use one.

You might want to try changing to some other font family not used in the doc, then change that back to the OTF version of Avenir.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Wish I could find some way of making it stick though.
