IDML open error

I get the following message when trying to open an IDML file

'Cannot open the document

"D:\OneDrive\Developments\EDW\Projects\Database Publishing\IDML Creations\IDML Files\tester.idml".
^2'

Note the "^2" part of the message.

I can open all .xml files and they are well formed. I have validated the IDML package.

Can anyone give me any clues to what "^2" means?

thanks in advance

I found and resolved the problem.

I had a "Self" User Defined Name of "Category_1_111669" which breaks the name rules. 🙂

Make sure the file is fully sync'ed to your hard drive and turn off the smart sync feature in OneDrive.

Thanks Bob for your fast response.

I have fully synched and I have paused synching on OneDrive. Still same error. I have also tried moving the IDML file to a folder not related to OneDrive. Same error.

The file is now in a folder not connected with OneDrive. So, why would OneDrive settings be relevant?

If things aren't fully sync'ed InDesign tends to time out waiting for the file and all of the links to download. That out of the way, why IDML and not INDD?

I have been task with a project to create a product catalogue from a database. I am doing a proof of concept that this can be done through IDML (which makes the output usable elsewhere). It is a hard slog 😉
