I amtrying to gain Title case on a variable data field in Indesign but cannot achieve this as i look at the next record, it rreverts back to the format that was present in the excel file that is the data source.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is an ongoing issue that I need to resolve asap.

As far as I know variables are treated as if they are a single character so you can choose a font and weight/style and color, but you caanot get them to break across lines or change the underlying text that was entered.

Assuming your Excel file is imported as a table in InDesign, you need to format it ONLY with table and cell styles. If you have content in a cell that need a particular paragraph style applied to it, create the paragraph style and then create a cell style that connects to the paragraph style. Do NOT apply the paragraph style directly to the table--it will be removed when updated.
