Bonjour
Hi @Lysitheus,
I appreciate you providing the screenshots and additional information. I'm sorry to hear that you're still facing the issue where Windows does not recognize .indd files with InDesign 2026 set as the default application. Hi @Lysitheus,
I appreciate you providing the screenshots and additional information. I'm sorry to hear that you're still facing the issue where Windows does not recognize .indd files with InDesign 2026 set as the default application. To better understand the situation, could you please confirm the version of Windows you are using and check if there are any older versions of InDesign still installed on your system? You can do this by typing 'appwiz.cpl' in the Start menu search and reviewing the list of installed programs. If InDesign is pinned to your taskbar, kindly unpin it for now and then follow the steps below before testing again.
Please attempt to reset your file associations using the following guides from Adobe and Microsoft:
https://adobe.ly/48gu5ne
https://adobe.ly/49sVtAC
If the problem persists, you can also modify the association directly through the Registry. Here are the steps:
Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
Navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InDesign.Document\shell\open\command
Double-click the (Default) entry and change the path so it points to the InDesign.exe you wish to set as the default, enclosed in quotes, followed by "%1".
For instance:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2024\InDesign.exe" "%1"
Close the Registry Editor, restart your computer, and then try opening an INDD file by double-clicking it.
Give this a try and let me know how it goes.
I'll be glad to assist you further based on your findings.
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek Rao
Thanks for your help. It's solved !
In the Registry, the association was already ok in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InDesign.Document\shell\open\command : "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2026\InDesign.exe" "%1" but not in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\FileExts\.indd\OpenWithList.
So I changed the default value by "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2026\InDesign.exe" "%1" and reassigned .indd to Indesign 2026 in Windows parameters ... and it works !
By the way, I use Windows 11 and no other version of Adobe Indesign was still installed (I checked it).
