I updated InDesign to the new version 18, and since then I have not been able to run the software, immediately upon activation an access is denied panel appears, click OK, the panel appears again, click OK, a panel appears
Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have
Sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders.
Ensure that you have appropriate permissions and then
restart Adobe InDesign.
Click More Info for instructions on correcting the Preferences
folder permission settings.
I have an option to select mor info that links to the link

There it appears to cancel preventing user access to the indesign folder
in the lane
C:\Users\AppData\Local\Adobe
There is no indesign folder at all
and in the path
C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign
Everything is allowed access to the user and even to every one.

Even uninstalling and going back to version 17 no longer works for me.

Please advise.

Also in another user account the same problem. Only if I open the software in the Windows logon screen through this

The software is activated.

If it was a bug, every user would see the same. We don't. So it is a problem with your system on User acces rights...

Agree. We're running version 18 on several Windows 10 and 11 computers without any crashes.

Most likely there is a problem with your computer's setup, possibly with user access rights and permissions.

Does your organization have an IT department that controls the installation of software on computers?

Also, if your computer is older, it might not be able to handle ver 18 of InDesign due to processor or RAM requirements, so check your hardware specs against what is recommended here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/system-requirements.html (however, our shop recommends a minimum of 16 GB RAM). Also make sure you have at least 3-5 GBs of free hard drive space that's needed to cache the software and your project.

And try closing down any other software programs when you launch InDesign; could be a conflict there, too.

Give permissions to the folder.

a.       Right click on the Application data folder and select Properties.

b.      Click Security. Select your username under “Group or user names”. Click Edit. Now do the same in the Permissions window.

c.       Now select the username you typed from Group or user names and check “Full Control” under “Permission for”.

d.      Click Apply and OK.
