Hello,
I'm working on the file, where Drop cap style is applied for every chapter opener text.
But the problem is, in the output pdf file the font size of the Drop Cap letter is varries with one another. For example in Chapter 1 Text it appears to be 36.13 pt and in another Chapter text it appears to be 34.01 pt.
While the both occurrence are in same style without any difference. This inconsistency happens throughout the book.
And this is XML tagged file, during the troubleshooting of this issue I found that, when I untag the file I was able to fix the issue, all font size are same.
But we don't have chance to untage the file, as we need XML tagged file for repurpose work.
Can someone tell us, what is happening here and possible solutions to fix this.
I have attached a sample file for testing
Thank you,
Nesan J

Are you using paragraph style to control the text with drop cap?

Hi Jonathan Nesan,
I see one manual character formatting override in the first drop cap that is too large:
But this is not the cause for the larger "L" here. It's not the point size or scaling that is overridden.
Hm…
I found a workaround. Assign the character style for the drop cap in the drop cap function of the assigned paragraph style and not on the character itself:
FWIW: Also report the issue at InDesign UserVoice:

I test-saved to IDML and opened in an older version and the drop caps are consistent.
In any case, there seems to be an issue with your Tags. The tag attached to your first paragrah (if you view Structure), appears linked to a different paragraph style (LSA) than the rest (COTX1).
If I remove the tags altogether, the drop caps become consistent.
So not sure if there's a bug related to a "hidden" reference to a deleted style that's causing a weird override, but it's worth mentioning if you are reporting.
But as Uwe mentioned, if you make the drop cap Character Style as part of your Paragraph Style, it seems to fix the issue. It's also the better way to work.
