Indesign 17.0 - Keyboard Shortcuts

I just upgraded to 17.01 and all of my keyboard shortcuts are gone. And I cannot scale my content together (text, images, etc.) using Command + Shift, it only scales objects. I tried Command + Option + Shift and it still didn't work. Plus my space bar no longer temporarily provides the hand tool. If I change my keyboard shortcuts, it isn't temporary.

Also, Option Drag just moves an object, it no longer duplicates it.

Hi Nicole,

what's your operating system?
Did you do a restart of the machine?

Maybe that would help…

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. This generally happens when the third-party application is interfering with InDesign. In that case, you may try running the app in Safe Mode, launch InDesign only, and check if shortcuts are working or not. In Safe Mode, your system starts to perform certain checks and prevent third-party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe Mode, then open other apps one by one, which you usually open, and see which app is conflicting with InDesign. You can check and find the culprit app/ process/ plugin/ extension with the help of Activity Monitor and then you'll have to close/ disable/ uninstall them on your user account and then launch the app in normal mode. I hope it helps!

Also, it can happen due to corrupt preferences. In that case, you may try resetting InDesign Preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-preferences-support-file-locations.html) and see if that helps.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.

Regards,

Anshul Saini
