I was using the Beta version of InDesign and my files were saved in the Creative Cloud. Now the Beta version says it's expired and everytime I try to download my file from a browser or the Creative Cloud program it times out or says it couldn't be downloaded but doesn't give a reason. I'm guessing it is because the file is too big to download. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Everyone,
The new beta release is available for download. Feel free to update the discussion if you need any further assistance.
Thanks

Beta versions are for testing purposes and the trial only lasts for seven days. If you don't have a subscription to a full version of InDesign you will probably have to take out a subscription to access your InDesign documents.

I agree with @Derek Cross . I just tested and the Beta version of InDesign is again expired.
I suspect that they were experiencing some problems with the build posted this past week (problem reports were posted on this forum).
Beta versions are, as Derek says, only for testing.

Thanks Bob, is there a reason you can still download the Beta if users getting this serious error? Seems a major problem for those that have saved files this way like myself. Major error for me, file not downloading either so i cant try open in another version

I was able to fix my problem. I am on a Mac and I thought to try and download the Beta version on my sons PC and it worked! I was able to open my cloud doc and download the file as an idml and send it to myself. I will now be only using the normal version of InDesign! And saving all of my files regularly in at least 3 different locations. Lesson learned!

I'm guessing they only expired the Apple version, not the PC one.

What exactly is the purpose of beta testing versions? One would assume that it's to run the sofware through it's paces in a real world eviroment but I am beginning to believe that Adobe thinks that people just sit around and pretend to be working on actual project to evaluate the software. Adobe is pushing "collaberation" down everyones throat to the point that they are completly revamping their cloud storage systems, Idesign is a perfect example, push people to adapt to the cloud based storage then pull a stunt like this. Pathetic.

No one is forcing you to use beta software or to create cloud documents.
The cloud format is already widely used with Photoshop and Illustrator files, but anyone can still save and work with files stored on your local drive or a server. But there are many features possible with cloud documents which can't be done on with traditional documents.

Thanks for your extremely informative reply..

@jdaveprill: but you still need to run incremental backups of your actual projects at all times. then you won't run into the issue discussed here.

I learned many years ago,, adobe-proof backups are mandatory.

Hi Everyone,
We have highlighted this with our Engineering team that InDesign Beta has expired, and the team is working on releasing the new version soon. I'll update this discussion as soon as the new version is available.
Thanks

I am afraid, I don't have the exact time by which it will be released however the team confirmed it's in testing and should be available soon.
Thanks

I'm sorry, but while I sympathize, this is a problem of your own making.
Betas are for testing, not production, and certainly not with mission-critical files.

Completely agree! I'm new to InDesign and I figured a company as large as Adobe would take away a version without notice or immediate replacement. Learning the hard way...

Actually this is a problem that wouldn't exist if Adobe took it's customers into consideration and cared enough about them to give them a heads up. I have been using Adobe products professionally for 20+ years and this disconnect has been a constant issue. I feel for the younger users who have to learn a COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE lesson the hard way. Adobe spends a lot of time and enegry creating features that push collaboration, I find that very ironic.
