InDesign 20.1 crashing while closing documents.

Immediatly after installing the latest InDD release, the app began crashing randomly, specially after saving and closing a document.
This happens 4 out 5 times, which means I'm constantly having to re-open the app.
InDD was already displaying several performance issues in the previous releases, but this is more than I can take.

I've moved your post from Creative Cloud Desktop to the InDesign forum.

Hi @DaddyDoom

Would you mind sharing the details of your operating system and its version? Is the crash only happening with a specific document or with others as well including a new document? Were you able to submit the crash report? If not, then please submit it and share the email address you used while submitting it (please share it on DM over the community). Reference: https://adobe.ly/3Eo0AV1

Are you using any third-party plug-ins with InDesign? If yes, could you try disabling them and then see if it works better? You can try testing the performance in Safe mode too (to isolate any third-party service interference). Reference:
https://adobe.ly/4hrkQDq

Are the files you work with locally stored or saved on a remote, external drive, or cloud? Let me know.

Moreover, please share a screen recording demonstrating the crash situation.

Will wait to hear from you to move forward.

^

Abhishek

Hello.
Machine specs below. I know its an old machine but if the apps are still compatible, I will be using it until is absolutely necessary to upgrade.
The crash happens with different documents. At least 4 out of 5 times, when closing a doc after saving, the app goes down.
No plug-ins installed.
I mostly work with Dropbox based documents, but issue ocasionally occurs on local.
Also, since previous versions I have experienced another issue, in which the app stops responding when quitting, meaning that I have to force quit before shutting down (this also happens with AI and PS).

Same problems as above described: crashing while cmd+w closing, crashing when cmd+drag to copy a text box, cmd+drag to copy a page. No plug-ins, only local files, crash report always submitted, but without email address. Specs attached. Pehaps it's not file specific issue, happened with different files.

Just confirmed that the issue is also happening with local files and not limited to cloud stored files.

Hello @DaddyDoom and @attilab21593266,

Thank you for the information provided. @attilab21593266, when submitting the crash report, please include your email address. This helps us differentiate and locate the exact report, making it essential to fill out the email section.

I kindly request both of you to submit a crash report by reproducing the issue with a locally saved file and share your Adobe account email address with me via DM on the Community. I will have the product team look into it.

Moreover, were you both able to test this issue in Safe mode (link shared in my previous response)? If not, then please test it and let me know.

The crashes are completely random and can might not even happen with the same file.
I will send a crash report whenever it happens, it wont take long.

I have been experiencing the same issues, working locally and on server.  Have tried reseting preferences, and workspace settings, and still having the same problems.

I had the same problem for many days ... I have [I think] solved as follows:

launch "Uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud" from Application/ Utility/ Adobe Installers and instead of uninstalling it choose: REPAIR.

It seems that the problem has disappeared [for the moment].

Issue still happening...
This is really very frustrating.
Thanks for the help though.
My wife experiences the exact same issue on her iMac (2019, Sonoma 14.6.1), a machine much recent than mine.
